Q: What time do I compete?
A: Always a difficult question to answer because it depends on how many people register for divisions. You can check to see what order and in which ring your division will be in, online at www.calcoastchampionships.com, under ring assignments. If you’re division is in the first 5 or 6 in any given ring, we would definitely recommend you being at the tournament on-time. If later you can give yourself a few extra minutes. BUT REMEMBER IF YOU MISS YOUR DIVISION THERE ARE NO REFUNDS!
Q: How do I know what rank to compete in (beginner, intermediate, advanced)?
A: Refer to the following chart. Otherwise, generally white, yellow, orange would be beginners. Purple, blue, green are intermediate. Lastly, brown, red are advanced.

Q: What happens if I am competing in two divisions that are up at the same time?
A: As long as you or a representative let the judge, score keeper or coordinator know that you are competing in another ring we will hold one of your rings for you. Otherwise, there is a chance you may miss your division, though we will do our best to prevent this from happening.
Q: Do I have to wear my belt and uniform when I compete?
A: Yes! Every division will require you to wear a full uniform, uniform top, pants and a belt.
Q: How do I qualify for grand championships and in which ring will it be held?
A: There is ONLY 1 way to qualify and that is by winning your division. You will be given a note letting you know that you have qualified for grand championships. There will not be grand champions for any of the sparring or self-defense divisions. The ring that the grand championships are held will be announced over the public address system.
Q: What happens if I drop my weapon during my form?
A: If you drop, bobble or forget your form at any time you will be allowed two free re-starts without any deductions. To do this you must ask the center judge, “May I please re-start my form.”. Re-starting more than twice or not asking for a re-start at all will cause for deductions on your overall score.
